Celebrating 30 years of helping Minnesota dog owners! 🐾

Tails Up dog training – Trusted Dog Training Since 1995

Serving Minneapolis / St Paul’s south metro communities—including Eagan, Rosemount, Lakeville, and Burnsville — Tails Up has been helping dogs and their owners build better relationships for 30 years.

Our team is made up of experienced trainers, each with more than a decade in dog training, showing, breeding, and grooming. We’re not just professionals—we’re competitors in American Kennel Club events who understand what it takes to raise a well-behaved, confident canine companion.

Our Approach - Balanced Training That Works

At Tails Up, we use balanced training methods, which means we teach dogs through a combination of positive reinforcement (like treats, praise, and play) and fair, clear corrections when needed. This proven approach helps dogs learn not only the behaviors we want—but also how to stop the ones we don’t.

We believe in being as gentle as possible, but as firm as necessary—always with your dog’s best interest at heart. Our goal is to create a respectful, cooperative relationship between you and your dog, where both of you enjoy the process of learning together.

Whether you're just looking for a dog who comes when called or you’re preparing for high-level obedience competition, we’re here to help you reach your goals.

Owner, Kori Bevis

Kori’s love for animals began early in life, and by 2003, she was already competing with her dogs in obedience events. Over the years, she has had the privilege of competing with her Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers, earning a total of more than 5000 AKC Obedience Trial Championship points on five of her dogs who earned the prestigious American Kennel Club (AKC) Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH) title.

Kori’s most meaningful accomplishments have come through her work at the AKC National Obedience Championship (NOC)—one of the most esteemed events in obedience competition. Kori has been invited to compete at the NOC 20 times, a recognition given to only the top trainers in the country.

In 2017, Kori became the youngest person ever to win the NOC with her Labrador Retriever, “Cedar.” This victory was a turning point in her career, not only for the title but for the personal connection and teamwork it represented. Kori continued her success in 2022, winning the NOC once again, this time with her Golden Retriever, “Baker.” With these wins, Kori became the first person to win the NOC with two different breeds.

In 2023 and 2024, Kori and Baker continued their winning streak by claiming the NOC for second and third consecutive years—making Baker the first dog to win the NOC three times. This achievement also made Kori the first person to win the NOC four times, a recognition that honors the commitment, trust, and hard work shared between trainer and dog.

In addition to these incredible wins, Kori and Baker also triumphed in the 2022 AKC Obedience Classic Master’s Division and the 2023 Westminster Kennel Club Master’s Obedience Championship, making Baker the first dog in history to win all three of the major AKC obedience championship titles. You can read more about this historic achievement in the feature story by WCCO.

As a trainer, Kori’s focus is on building strong, positive relationships between dogs and their owners. She uses balanced training methods, incorporating both positive reinforcement and gentle corrections to help dogs learn in a way that is both effective and compassionate. Kori is passionate about creating a foundation of mutual respect between dog and owner, where training is a fulfilling and rewarding experience for both.

Kori’s ultimate goal is to help people achieve their own successes with their dogs—whether that's reaching competitive milestones or simply strengthening the bond with their canine companion. Through patience, dedication, and teamwork, Kori is committed to making the journey enjoyable and rewarding for every dog and owner she works with.
